Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told lawmakers on Thursday that she had never met convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and had no information about his crimes, as she testified behind closed doors before a Republican-led House committee probing the sex-trafficking scandal and his powerful associates.
Hillary Clinton’s appearance before the US House Oversight Committee came after months of political sparring over access to Epstein-related records and testimony from prominent figures linked to the late offender’s network. Her husband, former US President Bill Clinton, is scheduled to testify separately.

In an opening statement, Clinton said she had never knowingly interacted with Epstein or his associate Ghislaine Maxwell and had no information relevant to investigations into their activities. She also urged the committee to seek testimony from President Donald Trump.
“As I stated in my sworn declaration on January 13, I had no idea about their criminal activities. I do not recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island, homes or offices. I have nothing to add to that,” Clinton said.
Her deposition comes as congressional Republicans review material linked to Epstein, the financier and convicted sex offender who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal trafficking charges. Maxwell was later convicted of helping him abuse underage girls.
There is no suggestion that inclusion in Epstein-related records implies wrongdoing by those named.
