CFMEU boss Zach Smith ‘steps back’ from national leadership

CFMEU national secretary Zach Smith will “step back” from his role as head of the troubled union to focus on the Victorian branch.

Smith told an emergency meeting of the move on Thursday.

A source, speaking anonymously to discuss internal union matters, said Smith had not resigned his national secretary position but would “step back”.

The CFMEU has been contacted for comment.
