Celebrating couture and Indian designers once again on the Cannes red carpet, Aditi Rao Hydari channelled celestial energy in Rahul Mishra Couture at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
Aditi Rao Hydari who is a Cannes patron has celebrated Indian craftsmanship with elan over the years. This time, she made her first Cannes 2025 red carpet appearance in the hand-embroidered ‘Celestial Aura’ gown from Rahul Mishra’s Aura collection.

Crafted over 2,600 human hours at the Rahul Mishra atelier, the gown featured intricate embroidery using resham threads, sequins, and glass bugle tubes—known as salli in India.
The design visualises energy radiating outward from a central core on the bodice, evoking a sense of emanation as it appears to flow visibly from the body. A gradient from deep black to ivory symbolises the varying intensity of this energy.
Every element of the ensemble gleamed on the red carpet as Aditi walked up the iconic Cannes red stairs. Looking resplendent in the timeless look, Aditi further enhanced the red carpet style with a statement Chopard diamond necklace.
Rahul Mishra first showcased the ensemble at Paris Haute Couture Week. The iconic Fall/Winter 2024 look expresses the flow of celestial energy emerging into matter, represented through concentric magnetic waves and linear surface embellishments.
The overarching theme of Rahul Mishra’s Aura collection explored the universe as a figment of the Hindu god Brahma’s imagination. It seeks to understand the characteristics and flow of energy within this imagined cosmos.
According to Mishra, in this worldview, every individual possesses an aura—an electromagnetic field, much like Earth’s—that emits vibrations connecting them to the universe. A living body becomes an intersection within Brahma’s omnipresent plane of energy—his aura—manifesting briefly in form, yet intrinsically woven into the eternal flow.
Aditi Rao Hydari beautifully embraced the energy the couture gown embodied and looked stunning on the Fuori red carpet at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
