Disney has written a cease-and-desist text to ByteDance, accusing the Chinese firm of using Disney heroes to teach and energy its Seedance 2.0 AI video machine without authorization.
A source with knowledge of the situation told Reuters that Disney claimed to have pre-packaged Seedance with a stolen collection of copyrighted figures from Star Wars and Marvel, portraying them as if they were public-domain picture skill.
According to the letter, Seedance is producing derivative works based on Spider-Man, Darth Vader, and other heroes, the man claimed.
According to a statement from ByteDance to the BBC on Sunday, the Chinese company may strengthen security measures on its Seedance 2.0 AI video tool to stop the illegal use of celebrity likenesses and characters from copyrighting.
ByteDance did not respond to Reuters ‘ request for comment right away.
The first to survey on Disney’s action was website media outlet Forbes.
According to Variety over the weekend, Paramount Skydance also issued a cease-and-desist notice to ByteDance, accusing the Chinese company of “blatant copyright” of its intellectual property.
One of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt’s battle video was a result of Seedance 2.0, which was released last year, and it has since gone viral in China.
The AI concept has been compared to DeepSeek and praised for its ability to create visual narratives using only a few causes.
Related actions have been taken by Disney against Character. AI, requesting that the company instantly stop the use of its trademarks that are in violation of the law.
Disney and OpenAI signed a licence agreement in December that allows the company to utilize characters from the Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel films in its Sora picture machine.
