An unborn baby has died in a two-car crash that occurred in Purga, near Ipswich, on Thursday.

Initial police investigations showed a Toyota Rav4 and Toyota Hilux were travelling in opposite directions when they crashed on Boonah Road around 5.45pm.

Six people, three in one car and three in the other, were taken to hospital.

One of the passengers of the Hilux, a 25-year-old woman, was transported to Ipswich Hospital suffering serious injuries.

Her unborn baby died as a result of the crash.

Police are calling for anyone with information that could assist investigations, including any dashcam vision, to contact police.

Police are appealing for information about a violent robbery in Logan overnight where a man was shot in the neck.

They say a group of people went to a home on Granger Road in Park Ridge armed with a firearm at about 7.40 pm.

The group demanded property from a man living there, who was injured after the gun went off.

The 23-year-old Hillcrest man suffered a wound to his neck and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The group left the scene with what police described as a small number of personal items.

A partly cloudy day with a high chance of showers has been forecast, but rain is less likely as we head towards Sunday, which is expected to be sunny.

The Uniting Church has succeeded in its bid to remove a Wilston landmark from the Queensland Heritage Register.

Brisbane City Council had previously rejected an application to demolish the former Wilston Methodist Memorial Church, which sits on a corner site fronting Kedron Brook Road.

The disused building was then afforded protection by the Queensland Heritage Council, prompting church lawyers to appeal to the Planning and Environment Court.

In a recent decision, Judge Michael Williamson agreed the 1950s church was still intact but found it did not meet the threshold for heritage protection.

“Having regard to visual aids before the court, and the benefit of a site inspection, I was satisfied the place has visual and aesthetic merit,” Williamson said.

“It is, however, an exaggeration to suggest (as the respondent and its experts do) the place: is beautiful by reason of its cohesive modernist styling; has qualities that inspire an emotional response; has a soft or transitional modern aesthetic, possessing expressive attributes that evoke an aesthetic response; and has strong aesthetic significance in terms of its streetscape contribution.”
