Easter weekend traffic into Brisbane has suffered serious delays as police juggle several serious multi-car pile-ups on the Sunshine Coast.

Police said the first crash occurred about midday in Palmview near Sunshine Coast theme park Aussie World.

A spokeswoman said the scene was very involved, and officers had yet to verify the number of vehicles caught up in the crash.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads advised motorists all southbound lanes were closed, and delays were expected.

It reported a second crash shortly before 2pm further north on the Bruce Highway, in Forest Glen.

About 12.30pm, towing company Clayton’s Towing reported another crash on Steve Irwin Way, near Landsborough.

The company said the incidents in Palmview and Landsborough might be connected.

More to come.
