Nahid Rana, the fastest bowling in the first ODI at Mirpur, recorded a lady five-wicket pull as Bangladesh held Pakistan to a fresh record in white-ball bowling with a strong eight-wicket win.
As Pakistan were 114 all out in 30.4 innings on Wednesday, Rana won 5-24 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, their commander, took 3-29 through his off-spin.
It was Pakistan’s lowest-ever ODI index in the series against Bangladesh, surpassing the previous record of 161 in a 62-run World Cup defeat.
With a blazing clean 67 off 42 balls, Bangladesh was led by recalled opening Tanzid Hasan, who was preferred over Soumya Sarkar.
After a unsatisfactory T20 World Cup, the Pakistani staff decided to leave out Saim Ayub and Babar Azam for the collection. Four Pakistanis struggled to make an impact in their ODI appearances.
After the International Cricket Council refused to change its activities from India to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh had missed out on the game due to security concerns raised by its state.
With five wickets in his first five overs, Rana flattened Pakistan’s lackluster top-order as Salman Ali Agha, Maaz Sadaqat, Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan’s T20 opener Salman Ali, and another debutant Shamyl Hussain ( 4 ) fell to his sharp short pitched deliveries.
When Mohammad Rizwan unleashed a full-length game that was beautifully snapped by swimming Litton Das behind the innings, Pakistan fell to 5-69 in the 18th over. He finally completed the top-order retreat.
Rana could have taken six wickets, but Bangladesh didn’t request an lbw review of Faheem Ashraf ( 37 ) before he had scored. Additionally, he likewise dropped a difficult left-handed return small catch on the next ball.
Mehidy’s rapid delivery of three wickets quickly caused Pakistan to fall to an awkward 9-82 before Ashraf added 32 for the final innings along with Abrar Ahmed, who added 32.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, the captain of Pakistan, was the only quick to defend a small total, with Tanzid hitting seven toes and five sixes.
On Friday and Sunday, the second and third matches will also be played in Dhaka.
