Wesley and Penrhos College have joined together to create one epic April Fools’ joke, sharing an announcement online that the two schools would combine.

Wesley principal Ross Barron and Penrhos principal Kalea Haran created a professional video — which included drone shoots of both campuses and has more than 500 likes — to share the “milestone announcement” that both schools will unite to create “Pensley College” in 2028.

“Communities of Wesley and Penrhos College, today we are sharing some exciting news,” Mr Barron begins.

The social media post said the new co-ed school would be split across the two campuses and bring together “the best of both worlds”.

Ms Haran said the idea came from the work on the schools’ combined rowing shed, showing what is “truly possible when two strong communities come together and share facilities and resources”.

“So after careful consideration, our councils have agreed to take the next logical step,” she said.

“From 2028, Penrhos and Wesley College will combine to form a single co-ed school,” Mr Barron said.

“We’re calling it: Pensley College,” Ms Haran added.

Students would learn across both campuses in Como and South Perth, making “full use of the specialist facilities and the combined resources”.

“One community. Shared values. Expanded opportunities,” Ms Haran said.

“It’s early days, but we’re excited about this new future. More information will follow — but in the words of our new motto…”

“Modo locus est,” they said together.

At the end of the video the two walk off, with Mr Barron joking that he thinks it should be called Wesrhos.

“Oh like, Where’s Ross? Like your staff are always saying ‘Where’s Ross, Where’s Ross, Where’s Ross?’,” Ms Haran said.

“You’re kidding me, it has such a catchy tune!” Mr Barron said.

Almost 100 comments flooded the Facebook post, with some forgetting about April Fools’ day.

“Wonderful. Just think of all the great weddings that will happen!!” one said.

“Oh my god. I thought that was real!” another read.

“Nooo you scared me for a minute there!” a third poster added.

Other commentators knew the joke straight away, as Wesley College is known for its April Fools’ Day pranks.

“Classic! Not as good as the partnership with MacDonalds,” one said

“Paper scissors rock to see who gets the job?,” another added.

One commentator said their mother had called “all excited”.

“Don’t tease!,” they said.

“Maybe tomorrow you might sit down and think, it’s not the craziest idea!” another added.
