Three months to go, Greyhounds!

Ted Lasso dropped its first trailer for the fourth season and confirmed the series will return on August 5, which is only 14 weeks away.

The show had earlier teased the upcoming chapter with first-look images, but now there’s a video which features scenes of Ted, Rebecca and the crew as Richmond attempts to coach a women’s second division team to victory.

What does victory mean in the context of Ted Lasso? Not necessarily more goals through the nets, although that’s obviously great, but the show’s more expansive definition of what it means to live a good life.

Awww, look, we’re already getting the warm-and-fuzzies from just 56 seconds of clips. Ted Lasso really knows how to turn a person into an emotional, introspective puddle.

It didn’t help that the trailer was scored to Mumford and Sons song Rubber Band Man – Marcus Mumford wrote Ted Lasso’s theme song – so it’s all working to evoke big feelings.

Regulars including Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift and Brett Goldstein are back, and they’re joined by Sex Education and The Other Bennet Sister actor Tanya Reynolds, who seems to be playing another coach of the female team.

Tracey Ullman could be glimpsed twice in the trailer, while other newbies include Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely.

No word yet on whether we’ll see Nick Mohammed’s Nate, and the actor has been playing coy in recent months about his involvement – or not – in the fourth season.

Many of Ted Lasso’s creative team have also re-assembled, now with the addition of Jack Burditt, who has worked on some of the most beloved American comedies of the 21st century including 30 Rock. He recently stepped in to steady the behind-the-scenes chaos of the first season of Nobody Wants This.

Ted Lasso, which was created by Sudeikis, Hunt, Bill Lawrence and Joe Kelly from a series of NBC sports ads, was originally designed to be a three-season series.

When the show seemingly wrapped in May 2023, it had closed out story arcs for its main characters, including Ted, who returned home to Kansas to be with his son, although it left the door open for several narrative possibilities, including a women’s team.

Its future was uncertain for a long time until March 2025 when the production confirmed it would be returning to AFC Richmond.

Ted Lasso won 11 Emmy Awards across its first three seasons including best comedy series, and performance gongs for Sudeikis, Goldstein and Waddingham.
