Yellowstone fans have been disappointed to learn that Luke Grimes isn’t a “real cowboy”.
The 42-year-old actor starred as Kayce Dutton on the hit TV show between 2018 and 2024, and Luke has shared some of the strangest comments he’s heard from fans of the series.
Speaking to the Toronto radio station CHUM 104.5, Luke – who has reprised the role for the CBS spinoff, Marshals – shared: “Like, they were so obsessed. A lot of times you’ll get the, ‘You’re not a real cowboy.’
“Well, of course I’m not, I’m an actor. That’s why I’m able to do this.”
Luke admitted to being baffled by some of the fan comments from fans.
The actor said: “If I was a real cowboy, I’d be, like, herding cattle right now. I wouldn’t be on this show.”
Luke previously claimed that the Yellowstone cast rose to the “challenge” of replacing Kevin Costner.
The veteran actor exited the hit TV show midway through season five – but Luke suggested that the cast rallied together to overcome the setback.
Luke told E! News: “It feels like every year there’s been some crazy new challenges, not unlike this year. There was a big, new challenge, but, you know, challenge accepted.”
Luke added that season five of the show “was absolutely incredible and couldn’t have been better any other way”.
Kevin announced his exit from Yellowstone in 2024.
The 71-year-old actor took to social media to announce that he was instead focusing his attention on Horizon: An American Saga, his series of Western films.
Kevin said on Instagram at the time: “I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on ‘Horizon’ and doing all the things that that’s required.
“Thinking about ‘Yellowstone’, that beloved series that I love, that I know you love. I just realised that I’m not going to be able to continue, season five or into the future.”
