The up-and-coming actor suing Rebel Wilson claims the Hollywood star’s wife is “mocking” the evidence she has given during a massive defamation trial, a court has been told.

Australian actor Charlotte MacInnes is suing Ms Wilson after the Hollywood star allegedly implied she walked back a sexual harassment complaint against Amanda Ghost – one of the producers on Ms Wilson’s directorial debut The Deb – in a series of social media posts.

The rising star claims social media posts made by Wilson’s wife, Ramona Agruma, on Friday morning were “mocking” the evidence she gave the day prior.

The Instagram story contains an image of Dory from Finding Nemo and is captioned: “I suffer from short-term memory loss … or do I? I can’t remember.”

“I felt as though she was mocking the evidence that I gave,” Ms MacInnes told the trial on Friday morning.

During cross-examination in court on Thursday, Ms MacInnes was grilled over who paid for a series of flights but was unable to recall some of the details.

She was able to provide clarification on Friday morning when she was re-examined by her lawyer, Sue Chrysanthou SC.

The case centres on a bath that Ms MacInnes shared with Ms Ghost in September 2023 after the producer allegedly suffered a medical episode following a sunset swim at Bondi Beach in Sydney’s east.

Ms Wilson claims the young actor told her the bath made her uncomfortable but later withdrew the complaint so she could secure a lucrative record deal and a role in one of Ms Ghost’s stage productions, Gatsby.

Ms MacInnes has emphatically denied making a complaint, previously telling the court she “never” said she felt uncomfortable.

Rebel ‘presented a case’ against young actor: court

Ms Ghost took centre stage on Friday, travelling from London to be probed over the incident and her relationship with Ms MacInnes in the Federal Court in Sydney.

She admitted finding a joke made by Ms Wilson’s wife about recasting Ms MacInnes in the weeks following the bath “funny”, but denied they were joking about firing the young star because she was “annoyed” with her.

“I wasn’t annoyed at the beginning, I was annoyed after Rebel presented a case against her to me,” Ms Ghost told the court.

She told a friend over dinner at the ritzy Bondi restaurant Icebergs that she was so angry with Ms MacInnes that she “couldn’t even look at her” on one occasion, the court was also told.

Sporting a chic velvet blazer, she at other times maintained that she was “shocked” but not angry or annoyed about the alleged complaint.

Text messages reveal Ms Wilson told the producer that the young actor said everything was “all good” after the Pitch Perfect star called her to seek clarification over the alleged complaint in the days following the bath.

“Charlotte says all good. She just meant ‘it was a bizarre situation’ not that she personally felt uncomfortable x,” Ms Wilson wrote.

“So all good there.”

The producer replied “Oh thank f**k for that!!”

“She was instantly like ‘oh no, zero issues at all’,” Ms Wilson added.

“But she said she was happy I called to clarify.”

The trial continues.
