A Perth influencer who was slammed online after she left her baby alone in a Bali resort room has issued another statement about her “regretful choices” in an attempt to clear her name.

Taleigha Skye’s “poor decision” as a mother-of-two went viral on social media after she shared a TikTok video that showed the lifestyle content creator leaving her resort room with her six-month-old son inside so she could get a foot massage.

People who saw the video took to Facebook to voice their concerns over her actions — which she has admitted was a mistake — and drew similarities to the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann on May 3, 2007, who was left alone in her parents’ Portugal apartment with her siblings while they dined at a tapas bar.

After Taleigha shared a statement on Tuesday to her Instagram admitting she “made a poor decision and I take full responsibility for it”, she took to TikTok on Wednesday with follow-up comments.

The 24-year-old said she wanted to “clear up some misinformation” circulating online.

“I did not leave the resort,” she said.

“I did not attend an appointment.

“The hotel room was in my direct sight, the pool and wellness area were only metres away.

“I was not away from the room for a long period of time.

“I was watching him on the monitor the entire time and was close enough that I could access the room in seconds if I needed (to).”

Taleigha reiterated that her provided context was “not an excuse” but “simply to correct what’s being said”.

“I regret my choices and take full responsibility; it’s not something I would ever do again,” she said.

The influencer limited comments on the post, but two fans were allowed to share some thoughts in support of Taleigha, who, in fact, is a “great mum”.

“Everyone that watches you on a daily basis knows that you are such a great mum and you do the most for your babies,” one fan said.

Another said that people online were quick to judge Taleigha as a parent without even knowing her.

“People that don’t even follow you are so quick to jump in and assume, those that follow you know you would never do anything to put those boys in danger you’re a great mum. I hope this doesn’t take away from your holiday you both deserve it.”

Taleigha has more than 16,000 followers on Instagram and another 74,000 followers on TikTok. In the wake of the backlash, she has made her Instagram private.
