A Sydney man who imitated the Bondi terrorists when he stood on the beach’s footbridge and pretended to hold a gun before shouting at passers-by “f**k the Jews” and “I’m a Koori I can do what I like”, has been jailed.

Zayne McMillan, 22, on Tuesday faced a Sydney court where he was jailed over a series of incidents on January 31 during which he unleashed expletive-laden, anti-Semitic rants at terrified locals.

He was on Tuesday beamed into court via videolink from prison having pleaded guilty to three counts of behaving in an offensive manner in public and two counts of intimidation.

The court heard that he posed on the footbridge, from which 15 people were killed just seven weeks earlier, pretending to hold a gun before being involved in a series of confrontations across Bondi and Bondi Junctions where he shouted “f**k the Jews”.

At the time of the offences, McMillan was on a cocktail of alcohol, ketamine, MDMA and magic mushrooms, the court was told on Tuesday.

According to a statement of agreed facts tendered to the court, McMillan and another man stood on the footbridge at Bondi Beach where the 22-year-old bricklayer posed for photographs pretending to hold a long arm firearm.

The incident occurred on January 31, just over a month after the terrorist attack in which 15 people were killed.

According to the court documents, McMillan was posing as if he was holding a gun while shouting “F**k the Jews” and “I’m a Koori I can do what I like” and “I’m Aboriginal – this is my land.”

He also told one man, who was with his family at the time: “What the f**k are you looking at?”

Members of the public told McMillan to go away, and he responded: “I’m a Koori. This is my land. F**k the Jews.”

According to court documents, he also told the man: “I’ll f**kin bash ya. This is my f**kin land.”

The man’s family became terrified and he became fearful for daughter’s safety, who was pleading with him to leave.

Police were flagged down but McMillan jumped a fence to make a getaway, the court was told on Tuesday.

About 20 minutes later, McMillan was riding on a hired bike on Bondi Rd when he came up behind a man and his son, who was on his way to a Synagogue.

The man was wearing a black Borsalino hat and the boy was wearing a Kippah, and were identifiably Jewish, according to the court documents.

The man heard someone shouting “f**king Jews” before he turned to see McMillan and his friend on bikes.

A short while later McMillan was filmed by a member of the public shouting “f**k the Jews” after he fell off his bike on Oxford St at Bondi Junction.

Four days later, McMillan was arrested after officers spotted him at Coogee Beach.

He was on Tuesday sentenced by Judge Michael Barko to 12 months in prison, with a non-parole period of nine months.

He will be eligible for release in November.
