An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Madhya Pradesh has been suspended for allegedly laughing during a video conference held in the presence of the Superintendent of Police (SP), who viewed the act as indiscipline and ordered immediate action.

The video conferencing session was organised to review pending complaints linked to the Chief Minister’s helpline, with several officers from various police stations in attendance.

While discussing a pending complaint at a police station in Balaghat, ASI Ramkishore Rahangdale was seen repeatedly laughing.

When asked to explain his conduct, Rahangdale failed to give a satisfactory response, following which he was suspended on grounds of indiscipline.

“Such behaviour in the presence of senior officers is unacceptable in the police department. ASI Rahangdale’s disregard for the seriousness of the matter led to his immediate suspension,” SP Aditya Mishra told India Today.

Rahangdale has been attached to the Balaghat Reserve Centre and has been directed not to leave headquarters without prior permission during the suspension period. He will receive a subsistence allowance in accordance with departmental rules.
