Actor Yash has shed light on his upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grownups in his first promotional interview, revealing it as much more than a conventional action-gangster drama. Speaking at CinemaCon 2026 in Los Angeles, Yash elaborated on Toxic, Ramayana, and his unique storytelling style.

In a viral clip from his interview with Fandango, the 40-year-old actor described Toxic as “layered,” suggesting that while it may appear to be a typical action film, it possesses significant depth and complexity.

More about Toxic than what meets the eye

Toxic is also a very ambitious film. For the first time, we have shot that film in English as well. So as a concept of the film, it’s very layered. Once again, it’s not a typical, action-gangster story. For face value, it would look like a gangster movie with a lot of action, but it has got deep psychology, and it has got very interesting aspects of human life you can resonate with,” he said.

Yash praised director Geetu Mohandas for crafting an action film that also delves into psychological themes. He remarked, “And it’s a very unique way to present a dark character, which is what I feel. It was very exciting… some of the best technicians – my director, Geetu Mohandas, has really given a new take on a gangster film and I enjoyed it. It’s going to be a visual treat as well as something – which makes a huge impact on the audience’s psychology as well.”

The KGF star also reflected on how Indian cinema has transformed over the years. Yash spoke about the country’s vast cultural diversity, calling India “a world in itself – every few hundred kilometres, there’s a different language and culture.” He pointed out that the rise of dubbing and pan-India narratives has helped connect audiences across regions like never before.

Positioning Toxic within this larger shift, he said the film embodies this new phase, deeply rooted in Indian sensibilities while aiming to resonate globally. “It’s one of those films that caters to everyone while offering a very unique experience,” he concluded.

Yash at CinemaCon 2026

At CinemaCon 2026, Yash was accompanied by producer Namit Malhotra to showcase their epic, Ramayana, to the international audience. This marks the film’s second major international promotional event after unveiling the first look of Lord Rama earlier this month.

In Ramayana, Yash takes on the role of demon king Ravana, with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as goddess Sita, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshamana. The film, heavily enhanced by VFX from DNEG and directed by Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal fame, is anticipated to be the major Diwali release this year.
