Live: Parramatta Eels vs Gold Coast Titans
32′ TRY: Will Penisini scores for Parramatta
The Eels are on the board.
Mitchell Moses went down the short side, where it is a three-on-three between the attack and defence.
Moses gets on the outside of his marker, draws a second defender, then passes to Kelma Tuilagi.
The second rower draws in Titans fullback Keano Kini, passes to his right, and Will Penisini is through.
That pass looked forward. The ref says it’s fine.
Penisini bobble the ball and needs three chances to catch the footy.
He finally holds it, and scores with a Titans’ defender around his waist.

28′ Sam Tuivaiti is off for HIA
Bad news for Parramatta.
Sam Tuivaiti, who came on to replace Junior Paulo, is lying on the ground and is receiving attention from trainers.
Tuivaiti was trying to make a tackle, but his head made contact with the hip of Titans’ ball-carrier Arama Hau.
Tuivaiti fell straight to the ground and remained there for a couple of minutes.
He is off for a HIA. He looks certain not to come back into this match.

26′ Addo-Carr loses the ball deep in Eels’ territory
The Eels are really struggling to gain any momentum.
Winger Josh Addo-Carr takes a run from inside his own half, but it comes loose in that three-may tackle.
It gives the Gold Coast a magnificent opportunity to score a fourth try.
There was a long pass to left winger Phillip Sami, and there is a chance to go for the corner.
Sami trips, falls to the ground and is tackled. Sami then passes off the ground, presumably thinking he was about to be thrown into touch.
That is a penalty against the Titans. Eels hold on.

17′ TRY: Kini sets up another Titans try
The Gold Coast Titans are on fire.
Keano Kini is on fire.
Parramatta had a really good attacking set, and five-eighth Ronald Volkman put a high kick down to Kini.
The Eels kick-chase was poor, and Kini sliced through to make the linebreak.
Kini gave the ball to left winger Phillip Sami, who streaked away.
Eels fullback Joash Papalii was able to run Sami down and wrap him up, but the winger stood tall and was able to give a pass to his fellow winger Sialetili Faeamani for the try.

13′ TRY: Titans score as Brimson finishes off Kini excellence
The Gold Coast are in again — Keano Kini moved like a ballerina.

Kini sliced through the defensive line, and looked set to score, but was tackled just metres from the goal line.
But Kini got a great offload away, and the ball hung in the air for a moment, before AJ Brimson plucked it out of the air and dotted down.
Great stuff from the Titans. The Eels did not help themselves, with Brian Kelly giving away a high tackle penalty which allowed Gold Coast to get into Eels’ territory.

Eels prop Junior Paulo being monitored
Junior Paulo looks OK for the moment, but he was looking a little sluggish in the set the Titans scored.
One to watch, because Parra do not need another injury.
10′ TRY: Arama Hau scores for Gold Coast
The Gold Coast Titans have the first try of the match.
On the final tackle of the set, Arama Hau throws a dummy, then he carries two Eels players over the line, and stretches out to score.
Give a lot of credit to fullback Keano Kini, who had a good run to start the set, and centre Jojo Fifita who made the linebreak that got the Titans into Eels’ territory.
Jayden Campbell converts the try from near the right touchline.

7′ Linebreak from Parramatta
Parramatta halfback Mitchell Moses is getting his hands on the ball, a lot.
In combination with strong runs from his forwards, the Gold Coast’s middle defenders are back-peddling.
Dylan Walker exploited that to make a linebreak, and give the Eels a chance to have an attacking kick.
Moses thought about running the ball on the final play, but the set ended with the threatening grubber kick that was well covered by Titans fullback Keano Kini.

2′ Moses kicks out on the full
Parramatta’s first set with the ball ends with a kicking error from Mitchell Mosese.
His high kick drifts towards the sideline.
Titans fullback Keano Kini put his foot on the touchline, and touched the footy to ensure it went out on the full.
It gives the Titans a great opportunity to apply some pressure on the Parramatta line, but a knock-on from Beau Fermor ends the set early.
KICK-OFF: Titans have the first use of the ball
Referee Ziggy Przeklasa-Adamski blows his whistle, and the first match on Sunday begins.
The Gold Coast have the first use of the ball, and they make good metres.
They get to their kick, just inside Parramatta territory.

A tough weekend to predict winners
G’day Mick, I’ve tipped the Eels and Knights today – trust me, I’ve already picked one game correctly this round…
– Mike
Let me guess, Mike.
You picked Canterbury to beat Penrith.
Or did you correctly predict the Warriors would end their Melbourne hoodoo?
Best of luck picking today’s winners.
You can make a case for all four sides to be victors at the end of today’s action.

Josh Hannay urging his Titans to keep up the effort
The Gold Coast Titans have started the season with one win and four losses.
The last fortnight has been solid from the Gold Coast. They defeated St George Illawarra, and they pushed the Brisbane Broncos for long periods last weekend.
Coach Josh Hannay, in his first year as an NRL head coach, has just spoken to Fox League ahead of this afternoon’s clash against Parramatta.
Hannay says he is happy with the effort from his team, and is urging them not to drop their heads and keep up the hard work.
I’m seeing a lot of effort, it’s going unrewarded at the moment.
I’m loving the grit, the defence, that they’re displaying when they need to.
But, at the moment, there’s not a whole lot going our way to complement that effort.
I’ve been in the game long enough to know if you’re doing the hard stuff well, you’ll start to get a little bit of luck your way.
Eels coach ‘looking forward’ to seeing inclusions make in impact
We mentioned earlier that Parramatta has suffered a significant injury toll to start this season.
There are four backline starters who are not available today — Isaiah Iongi, Bailey Simonsson, Jonah Pezet and Sean Russell — while State of Origin player J’maine Hopgood is out for the year with an ACL.
And that is not all of the injuries that the Eels have suffered.
But it presents an opportunity for others to play and make an impact.
Eels coach Jason Ryles has just spoken on Fox League, and says he is excited about the opportunity some players have been given due to the significant injury toll.
I’ve got a lot of faith in the players coming in, it’s a great opportunity for them.
It’s a little bit earlier in the season than we anticipated.
You talk about it all preseason, telling players [that] you never know when their opportunity is going to come. But it’s come for a few of them now, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how they go.

Late change for the Gold Coast
The Titans needed to make an adjustment to their side yesterday afternoon.
Klese Haas was unable to overcome a minor leg injury, so he is out of today’s clash.
Kurtis Morrin will start in the front row, making his sixth appearance for the Titans.
Adam Christensen is on the six-man bench.

Injury-ravaged Eels take the field
Parramatta has been cruelled by injury over the opening rounds of this competition.
The backline has been hit hard, losing over the past few weeks Isaiah Iongi, Bailey Simonsson, Jonah Pezet and Sean Russell.
Today, winger Araz Nanva makes his NRL debut while five-eighth Ronald Volkman come in for just his eighth NRL match.
