Hollywood actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy has unveiled a dramatic transformation on the red carpet.
The Bridesmaids star stepped out at the Fashion Trust US Awards 2026 in Los Angeles, wearing a shimmery, fitted gown that showed off her noticeably slimmer figure.
McCarthy has previously spoken about body image and how her attitude towards weight loss has shifted.
“I finally said to myself, ‘Oh, for God’s sake, stop worrying about it’ and it may be the best thing I’ve ever done,” McCarthy told CBS Mornings.
“I truly stopped worrying about my weight. I stopped over-analysing, over-thinking, over-doing anything.”
In December last year, McCarthy hosted Saturday Night Live for the sixth time. While she didn’t address her weight loss in her opening monologue, many viewers were quick to praise her appearance.
“Melissa McCarthy is awesome! She’s not flaunting — she’s just being her fabulous self,” one person commented on social media.
“Good for her, she looks great,” another said.
Her head-turning SNL appearance came after an outing at the Center Theater Group Gala sparked online speculation about whether McCarthy had used weight-loss injections.
At the time, she shared a photo alongside choreographer Adam Shankman — prompting an unexpected comment from singer and actress Barbra Streisand, who wrote: “Give him my regards, did you take Ozempic?”
The 83-year-old icon quickly deleted the remark after it triggered backlash, but McCarthy brushed off the moment.
“I think Barbra is a treasure — and I love her,” she told paparazzi afterwards. Streisand later clarified her question was intended as a compliment.
McCarthy, who featured in PEOPLE’s 2023 Beautiful Issue, has also spoken about learning to feel comfortable in her own skin, crediting her husband, actor and filmmaker Ben Falcone, as her biggest supporter.
“Because he’s so constantly loving and kind. And funny — and the weirdest human I know, to be honest,” she said.
“Somewhere in my 30s, I was like, ‘I’m OK with who I am’. And if someone wasn’t thrilled with that, that’s OK too.”
