A minor fire broke out at Terminal 1 of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Thursday evening, prompting a swift emergency response. Officials confirmed that the blaze was quickly brought under control and did not impact airport operations.
According to the Mumbai Fire Department, the fire was reported in a ground-plus-three-storey structure at Terminal 1. The flames were confined to the ground floor area near the 1-B Circle.

Fire brigade personnel, along with police and civic ward staff, were deployed to the spot to contain the situation. Videos shared by users on X showed thick smoke billowing inside the premises.
SHORT CIRCUIT SUSPECTED
In an official statement, a spokesperson for the airport said the fire was reported around 6:10 pm and was likely caused by a short circuit.
Emergency response teams acted promptly and managed to douse the fire within minutes, preventing it from spreading further.
OPERATIONS UNAFFECTED
Authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. Despite the brief disruption, airport operations remained unaffected.
Multiple fire tenders were rushed to the site after the blaze was reported around 6:35 pm. The quick response ensured the situation was contained efficiently, with further details awaited from officials.
