In an interview with India Today, senior BJP leader and former West Bengal unit president Dilip Ghosh discussed the party’s prospects in the state elections. Ghosh emphasized the impact of ‘Modi’s guarantee,’ stating, ‘People of Bengal will also vote for BJP’ after observing the development in 21 BJP-ruled states. Addressing the controversy surrounding voter deletions through the Special Iterative Revision (SIR), he dismissed TMC’s allegations of a conspiracy with the Election Commission, noting similar trends in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Ghosh remarked on the state’s decline, claiming ‘8,500 schools will close this year’ and thousands of industries have left. Reflecting on the BJP’s growth since 2016, he noted that while the 2021 campaign had more ‘enthusiasm,’ the current organisation is more ‘experienced’ and ‘firm.’ He concluded by expressing confidence that the electorate is now ready to move past the TMC government to embrace the changes promised by the BJP leadership.
