Meghan Markle has offered a rare look into her family’s Easter celebrations with Prince Harry and their two children, sharing a series of moments from the day on social media.
The Duchess of Sussex posted clips to Instagram on Sunday, April 5, US time, showing Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, enjoying a relaxed, nature-filled holiday at their California home.
In one video, the siblings can be seen running across the lawn with baskets in hand as they hunt for Easter eggs, with Lilibet wearing bunny ears for the occasion. Archie speeds up as he sees his sister nearing a prize, but doesn’t bump her out of the way.
Another clip shows the pair strolling along a path with their baskets, filled with treats and small gifts, accompanied by a dog. Prince Harry is heard talking in the background.
A separate moment captures a bright red-headed Lilibet in a pink floral dress, barefoot on the grass and holding two stuffed toys.
In the last video of the post, Archie also gets creative during the celebrations, using a spinning tool called “The Dinomazing Egg Decorator” to add colourful stripes to an egg.
The post also includes footage of the family’s chickens being given fresh lettuce as an Easter snack, while another shows multiple eggs laid by the chickens.
Meghan captioned the post simply, “Happy Easter!”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who moved to California in 2020 after stepping back from royal duties in the UK, have largely kept their children out of the public eye while raising them in the United States. When Meghan does post, the children are filmed from behind or their faces are covered.
Meanwhile in the UK, members of the royal family gathered on Sunday for the traditional Easter Matins Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Although Meghan and Harry were married at the chapel in May 2018, Meghan never attended the royal family’s Easter service. That year, the holiday fell just weeks before their wedding, and they chose not to join the gathering led by Queen Elizabeth, which included senior royals such as Prince William, Kate Middleton, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
In 2019, Meghan also missed the Easter service as she was heavily pregnant with Archie, who was born on May 6, shortly after the April 21 holiday. Prince Harry attended the service alone at the time, near their home at Frogmore Cottage.
