Cameron Green’s shaky start to his Indian Premier League (IPL) return has continued with an unfortunate run-out, but Travis Head has blasted back to his best.
In need of an imposing knock to get his high-profile IPL campaign up and running, Green was run out for two as his Kolkata Knight Riders recorded a 65-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens.
Green’s Australia teammate Head enjoyed better luck, making 46 as opener in the Sunrisers’ total of 8-226.
Head struck three sixes and six fours in his 21-ball innings.
All-rounder Green is the most expensive overseas signing in IPL history at $4.17 million.
He has quickly found himself the topic of feverish debate in India after scoring only 18 and not bowling in the Knight Riders’ opening defeat to Mumbai Indians.
He did not bowl against the Sunrisers, who were put into bat.
Heinrich Klaasen top-scored for the Sunrisers with 52 off 35 deliveries.
In the Knight Riders’ reply, Green came out to bat at 2-67 before he was quickly involved in a mix-up with Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
At first, it was thought Raghuvanshi had been run out at the bowler’s end until video checks revealed he and Green had not crossed mid-pitch.
It was Green who had to depart after facing just two deliveries.
Raghuvanshi then ran himself out for 52 and, once Rinku Singh was dismissed for 35, the Knight Riders succumbed to 161 all out off 16 overs.
Jaydev Unadkat took 3-21 with the ball for the Sunrisers.
