Amid boiling tensions with the United States, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has delivered a defiant message to the United States. He said that around 7 million are ready to defend the country, warning that any attack would be met by a nation “locked, loaded and standing tall.”

In a lengthy post on X, Qalibaf said a nationwide campaign had rapidly gathered support from millions willing to take up arms. “Right now, in less than a week, a powerful national campaign has brought forward around 7 million Iranians who have already stepped up and declared they’re ready to pick up arms and stand in defence of our nation,” he wrote.

While reiterating that Iran is not seeking conflict, Ghalibaf warned that the country would respond collectively if attacked. “We are not warmongers. But when the time comes to defend our homeland, every last one of us becomes a soldier,” he said. In one of the most striking lines, Ghalibaf added, “Iranians don’t just talk about defending their country, we bleed for it.”

Ending his statement with a direct warning, he said, “You come for our home you’re gonna meet the whole family. Locked, loaded, and standing tall. Bring it on.”

ESCALATION ON MULTIPLE FRONTS

The remarks come against the backdrop of rising tensions following Donald Trump’s latest address, in which he signalled that the US is prepared to intensify its military campaign and warned of severe consequences for Iran.

At the same time, the situation has been further complicated by actions attributed to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to state media outlet IRNA, the IRGC claimed it had targeted an Amazon cloud computing centre in Bahrain in response to US attacks.

“This response is the first practical warning to the enemy that if the warnings are ignored and the assassinations continue, we will punish the next companies that we have already announced much more severely, and the responsibility for the complete destruction of these companies in the region lies with the US President himself,” the IRGC said.

The statement comes a day after the group listed 18 companies — including Microsoft, Google, Apple, Intel, IBM, Tesla and Boeing — as potential targets.
