The United Arab Emirates is preparing to help the United States and its allies secure the Strait of Hormuz by force, Arab officials told The Wall Street Journal. The move would make it the first Gulf nation to become an active participant in the war after bearing the brunt of Iranian attacks.
This comes as US President Donald Trump is reportedly planning to quickly wrap up the war against Iran, which would leave the strategic waterway under Tehran’s control. Amid Washington’s push to exit, some Gulf allies, with UAE at the forefront, are urging the US to continue military operations.

According to the WSJ report, the UAE is lobbying for a United Nations Security Council resolution to authorise military action. Emirati diplomats have urged the US and military powers in Europe and Asia to form a coalition to forcibly reopen the strait.
