” However, I am still unable to express myself sufficiently in French despite several lessons over a number of years. I apologize in full for this, but I’m making an effort to get better.

François Legault, the premier of Quebec, noted that Rousseau promised to study French when he was appointed chairman of the aircraft in February 2021.

Rousseau delivered a speech to Montreal business leaders about totally in English in 2021, soon after being appointed CEO. He later expressed some pride in having lived in Montreal for more than ten years without speaking French, which sparked anger in Quebec. He also apologised for that occasion.
