Tia Mowry credits self-reflection for newfound happiness in her life following divorce from Cory Hardrict.

The 47-year-old actress admitted she had felt alone for a while following her split from the 46-year-old actor in October 2022 after 14 years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” with their divorce finalised in April 2023.

Tia told People: “I will say that I’ve been in a place of solitude for a very long time. And there, I was really able to learn who I am, what it was that I wanted, and what it was that I needed. And I manifested this. I really did.”

The Sister, Sister alum has tried to think and speak more positively to stamp out negativity about dating and to ultimately improve her mindset.

Tia explained: “I like speaking it into existence, just being really positive about the words that you are telling yourself. Visualisation, I’m a huge believer of visualising things and visualising feelings.

“And I just started to stop just talking bad and poorly about dating because it was very easy to do that.

“But I was like, ‘You know what? I believe in neuroscience and how the brain works, and if I continue to speak negative about it, that’s what my brain is going to seek out and find.’

“But if I just start to speak positive things into existence, then it’ll eventually happen. And I really, in a way, too, I was OK with being by myself.”

Tia – who is “very happy” with her new partner, but wants to keep their relationship private – said her big focus is co-parenting son Cree, 14, and daughter Cairo, seven, with her American Sniper star ex-husband Cory.

She said: “I’m a mom. Not that going out and dating and not being intentional is the wrong thing, but I have a lot of responsibilities and taking care of my children, being the best mom and parent to them, is my priority.

“So if this happens to happen, then it happens. But yeah, I’m very much at peace.”

As well as her loved ones, Tia credits travelling for helping her heal.

During a June 2025 fan Q+A on her Instagram Stories, how to recover from a divorce, the Family Reunion star penned: “I think I’d say: dive into doing the work.

“Really, truly focus on self-care. Focus on what makes you happy and what brings you joy.

“Build a tribe, a community of friends, a support system. Meditate. Try new hobbies. Read books on healing. Spend time with your kids if you have them, or just surround yourself with people who genuinely love and support you.

“Do things that feel fun and fulfilling. Travel, if you can. Travelling really helped me. It’s all about creating new experiences. The more experiences you have, the further away you get from that heavy, gut-wrenching feeling of divorce.”
