After a quiet game in Fremantle’s season opener, Andrew Brayshaw brought the noise with a superb performance in Saturday night’s win over Melbourne.

And after the match, he made sure his teammates had the opportunity to make more noise than usual by instigating a key change to the club’s song.

The Dockers have incorporated the extra verse from their club anthem into the portion that they sing in the rooms after victories.

In a move that follows what the club’s women’s team has been doing for several years, the players now begin their chant with “We’re the rollers and the rockers… we’re the mighty Freo Dockers” instead of the usual “Freo, way to go”.

Star midfielder Caleb Serong said Brayshaw had been the man to drive the change.

“Andy Brayshaw’s taken hold of the song,” Serong said on SEN.

“You would have heard an extra verse in there, so we’re going back to the heritage of the club, and making sure we include what the real song is.

“So we’ve got the two verses going now.”

Brayshaw was also the man behind posting a message that has adorned the walls and locker doors of Freo’s changerooms that reads “The first 22 men to win a premiership at Fremantle will be immortals.”

The vice-captain said the message was inspired by his father Mark from his North Melbourne days.

“He said something along the lines of, ‘That could be you guys when you will be immortal’. And so I wrote that up on a few boys’ lockers and stuck it around the locker room and a few guys held on to it,” Brayshaw said earlier this month.

“It’s the reason we come in to work every day and train so hard.

“And we don’t only want that for ourselves. We want it for our fans and everyone who has come before us so I definitely still believe that.”

Brayshaw racked up game-highs of 10 score involvements and 39 disposals in Fremantle’s win over Melbourne, after mustering just 14 touches in the club’s season-opening loss to Geelong.
