Security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Uri sector during a joint operation carried out late on Saturday night, officials said.
According to the Indian Army, the operation was launched in the general area of Buchhar in the Uri sector of Baramulla district following specific intelligence inputs shared by the Jammu and Kashmir Police about a possible infiltration attempt.

The joint operation began on the intervening night of March 14 and 15, when alert troops laid an ambush in the area after receiving the tip-off.
During the surveillance, soldiers spotted suspicious movement of a suspected militant hiding in dense vegetation.
TERRORIST OPENS FIRE AFTER BEING CHALLENGED
Security personnel readjusted the ambush position and challenged the suspect. The militant responded by opening indiscriminate fire on the troops, triggering a brief exchange of gunfire.
During the encounter, one suspected Pakistani terrorist was killed, officials said.
WEAPONS, AMMUNITION RECOVERED
After the gunfight, forces recovered war-like stores from the site, including an AK rifle, pistols and a large quantity of ammunition.
Officials said the operation in the area was still underway as security forces continued to comb the region to ensure no other infiltrators were present.
