When Maye Musk walked onto the stage at the India Today Conclave 2026, she exuded quiet confidence that comes from years of experience and reinvention. The model, dietitian, global traveller and mother of three, including Elon Musk, spoke candidly about life, motherhood, work and ageing.
Dressed in a beautiful ensemble by Rahul Mishra, Musk embodied exactly what she spoke about: embracing life fully, regardless of age.

And for her, motherhood doesn’t mean the end of ambition.
Responding to a question about encouraging women to have children, Musk explained that motherhood should not be seen as a sacrifice.
According to her, children bring a kind of joy that is difficult to articulate. “They really are the most wonderful thing in your life,” she said, reflecting on raising her three children. Of course, she acknowledged the realities; children climb trees, fall off roofs, break arms and knock their teeth out, but she added with a laugh that the chaos is part of the experience.
For young women worried that motherhood could derail their careers, Musk offered a reassuring perspective. In the early years, she admitted, parents do spend more time caring for their children. But as they grow older and become independent, the space to pursue ambitions returns.
Her simple takeaway: motherhood may pause a career briefly, but it doesn’t end it. Instead, she called it “a good investment for happiness.”
During the conversation she also shared the secret to ageing without fear.
For someone who has become a global symbol of ageing gracefully, Musk has a surprisingly simple philosophy about growing older.
She doesn’t think about age at all.
In fact, she believes people often worry about ageing because society constantly reminds them of it, whether through workplace discrimination, societal expectations, or the pressure to slow down after a certain age.
Her advice is straightforward: find something you truly love doing.
“When you enjoy what you do, you wake up excited every morning,” she said. That excitement, she believes, keeps people energetic and engaged with life.
It’s a mindset she inherited from her own mother, who never believed in slowing down with age.
