Tense moment Sydney TAFE plunged into lockdown after 16yo brings water pistol to campus

Wild footage has emerged of the moment students were rushed out of a TAFE in a southwestern Sydney suburb after a young girl bought a water pistol into the campus, plunging the buildings into lockdown.

Tactical officers were called to a TAFE in Campbelltown about 4.30pm Tuesday after reports two people were “acting suspiciously” on the campus.

The campus was thrown into lockdown, with students escorted out of the buildings as officers swept the classrooms in search for suspicious items.

Footage from inside one of the buildings showed heavily armed police standing at the entrance of the classrooms as students were ushered out.

Wild footage has emerged of the moment students were rushed out of a TAFE in Sydney’s southwestern suburbs after a 16-year-old brought a water pistol to the campus.

Tactical officers had their faces covered as they stood at the threshold of every classroom and staircase, watching as students filed downstairs.

Some students stifled giggles as they were rushed out of the buildings.

According to the video’s caption, the students were let out by police “one building at a time”.

On Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed they were investigating the incident.

“Police attended the campus and reviewed CCTV holdings and commenced inquiries into the whereabouts of the two people,” a police statement read.

Officers failed to locate anything of interest from the TAFE.

An image obtained by NewsWire showed a girl carrying an object in her hand, believed to resemble a firearm.

About 7pm the same day, officers visited a home in Campbelltown and seized a water pistol from a 16-year-old girl.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
