Harvey Weinstein says he has been largely cut off from his old friends and colleagues since his imprisonment.
The disgraced former film producer, 73, who was convicted of sex crimes in California and whose earlier New York convictions were overturned in 2024 before a subsequent conviction in 2025, made the comments in an interview from Rikers Island with The Hollywood Reporter.
Weinstein is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence at the notoriously tough jail in New York, and spoke from custody about how his relationships have changed since the allegations against him became public in 2017.
He also discussed his relationship with his former wife Georgina Chapman, 49, and his lack of contact with several prominent figures from the film industry.
Weinstein said: “I wish Jeffrey Katzenberg would take my call. I wish Ted Sarandos would, Bradley Cooper. I miss these people not just as business – there was more to it than that.”
He said: “But I’m cancel-itis. Toxic. You take my phone call and you get canceled.”
Weinstein also admitted: “I get it. I don’t expect anyone to destroy their careers for me.”
The former Hollywood executive added he now avoids contacting many people because he believes speaking to him could damage their reputations.
Weinstein said: “I’m scared to call people because I don’t want them canceled for talking to me.”
In his interview, Weinstein added the breakdown in relationships extended beyond professional connections and included members of his family.
He said most of the people he once worked closely with in the entertainment industry had cut contact.
Weinstein also spoke about Georgina Chapman, the fashion designer he married in 2007.
The couple separated in 2017 after allegations against Weinstein became public and their divorce was finalised in 2021. They share two children – daughter India Weinstein, 15, and son Dashiell Weinstein, 12.
Weinstein said he no longer speaks directly with Georgina but said she allows their children to visit him.
He also addressed Georgina’s relationship with the actor Adrien Brody, 52, insisting: “It’s good that my kids have someone in their lives.”
Weinstein added Georgina had suffered professional consequences following the allegations against him.
He said: “And Georgina suffered terribly because of me.”
“I’m glad she’s finally found some happiness… she knew nothing about what I was doing. I was a master of deception.”Adrien publicly acknowledged Georgina and her children during his Academy Awards acceptance speech in 2025, thanking them for welcoming him into their lives.
Adrien and Georgina were first linked in 2019 and have been in a relationship since 2020.
