Members of the Egyptian women’s basketball group in Australia have been given asylum by US President Donald Trump.
After the crew were caught making what appeared to be an” SOS” hand sign on Sunday evening after their last Asian Cup game, supporters had been urging Australian officials to meet with the staff to ensure their safety.
The group is staying at the Gold Coast resort’s Royal Pines location while traveling to Australia after this month.
In a post on Truth Social at around 1 a.m. AEDT, Mr. Trump claimed that Australia is making a terrible charitable mistake by forcing the Iranian National Women’s Soccer team to travel up to Iran, where they are most likely to be killed.
” Don’t do it, Mr. Prime Minister, give ASYLUM. If you don’t, the U.S. does get them, he said.

Eventually, Mr. Trump shared a message in which he claimed to have spoken with Mr. Albanese and praised the prime minister for handling a “rather gentle situation.”
In a statement made by Mr. Trump in reference to the Egyptian people,” Five have already been cared for, and the remainder are on their way.”
Some, nevertheless, believe they must return because they are concerned about their families ‘ safety, including risks to those individuals if they don’t.
The staff members ‘ founder, AUSIRAN, Rana Dadpour, urged American officials to hold secret meetings with them before they left the country, warning that they could face execution if they were to return home on Monday.
She told AAP,” We need to communicate with these women away from the operators and the regime-affiliated people who are following them right then in Australia.”
I believe we must give them every assistance we can if they want to be.
At least one of the people appeared to be making the international call for assistance after their final match on Sunday evening, raising an open hand, crossing the fingers over it, and folding the four hands over the top.
The women appeared to be filming the group through the windows as protesters surrounded the vehicle.
According to reports from the media on Monday night, some team members allegedly evaded their handlers and were protected by Queensland authorities.
Progressive MP Julian Leeser said on Monday night that the government may soon revoke the permits of any corresponding security personnel who are threatened or intimidated against these brave women and place them in emigration detention.
Every part of the Iranian Women’s Football Team should have the opportunity to talk with an American Border Force agent or other government official in person and apply for asylum, according to Mr. Leeser.
The frontbencher of the opposition claimed that we should offer the Egyptian team’s women an alternative to moving back to Iran.
