A woman allegedly fired several shots into Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s Los Angeles mansion with an AR-15-style rifle while the pop star was in the home, local media have reported.
The incident occurred at 1.21pm Sunday (LA time) and a female suspect was arrested, Los Angeles police said. NBC reported that four rounds or fragments hit part of the property, however the Los Angeles Times reported that 10 rounds had been fired.
No one was injured in the shooting; however Rihanna was at home in the Beverly Crest district just outside of Beverly Hills at the time, a police source said. It is unclear if anyone else was in the house.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have three children – sons RZA, 3, and Riot, 2, and daughter Rocki Irish, who was born last September.
No motive for the shooting has yet been revealed and NBC said more information would be released on Monday (Tuesday, AEDT).
The incident comes just over a year after A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of firing a handgun at a former friend on a Hollywood street in 2021.
The rapper faced two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
After the verdict was read, the 36-year-old hip-hop star, fashion mogul and actor – whose legal name is Rakim Mayers – dived into the gallery to hug partner Rihanna, who was in tears at the time.
“The glory belongs to God and God alone!” Rihanna wrote in an Instagram Story after the verdict. “Thankful, humbled by his mercy!”
The verdict came ahead of a big year for A$AP Rocky, who was one of the celebrity co-chairs of the Met Gala in May and starred alongside Denzel Washington in director Spike Lee’s film Highest 2 Lowest. He also appeared in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You with Rose Byrne, who earned an Oscar nomination for her starring role and has already picked up a BAFTA for her efforts.
In January this year A$AP Rocky released his fourth studio album Don’t Be Dumb, the long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s Testing.
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna have been together since 2020, after a friendship lasting many years.
“People don’t get out of the friend zone very easily with me. And I certainly took a while to get over how much I know him and how much he knows me, because we also know how much trouble we can land each other in,” Rihanna told Vogue in 2022.
