Soldiers from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were seen celebrating Holi on the icy Pangong Lake in Ladakh, turning the high-altitude border outpost into a vibrant scene of colour and festivity.

The video was shared on ITBP’s official Instagram account, showing a glimpse of how troops posted in one of the harshest terrains in the country celebrated the festival along with local residents.

In the clip, the soldiers can be seen dancing and joyfully throwing traditional Holi colours (gulaal) into the air against the breathtaking backdrop of Pangong Lake and the surrounding snow-dusted mountains.

Wearing their winter gear and uniforms, the troops laughed, danced, and greeted each other with colour despite the freezing conditions at over 14,000 feet.

Several soldiers raise their hands in celebration as clouds of pink and red gulaal filled the crisp mountain air. Residents from nearby villages were seen standing nearby, smiling and recording the cheerful moment on their phones.

In the caption accompanying the post, ITBP described the celebration, writing: “Holi at 14,300 ft! Amid the frozen expanse of Pangong Lake (14,300 ft), ITBP troops of the North West Frontier celebrated Holi with residents of vibrant villages.”

One user commented, “Happy Holi to our brave soldiers.”

Another wrote, “Jai Hind! Very happy to see the soldiers have fun and celebrate like this.”

Several users also discussed how meaningful it was to see troops celebrating festivals with local communities in remote border areas. Others said the video showed the dedication and resilience of security forces stationed in difficult terrains, often far from their families.
