Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a young woman after her body was found aboard a $50 million superyacht.
Charlotte Conradie, 29, was working as a stewardess on the luxury boat when her work colleagues became worried about her after she failed to answer their messages and calls.
Having made multiple attempts to reach Ms Conradie on Sunday night, her colleagues went to check on her before they raised the alarm with authorities.
Paramedics hurried to the yacht, which was moored at the Majorcan port of Palma, but tragically Ms Conradie was unable to be saved.
Her body has since been taken to Palma’s forensic medicine institute where it will undergo a post-mortem.
The 29-year-old was working on the custom-built motor yacht named Lind, which is worth approximately $51 million.
She had previously worked at a stewardess at SuperYachts International before she shifting into a maintenance role, The Mirror reported.
Authorities are still waiting on the results of Ms Conradie’s post-mortem but one source said to be “close” to the investigation has indicated that she died of natural causes.
“Everything is pointing to her death being the result of natural causes. At this moment in time, it is not being treated as a crime although the results of the autopsy are still pending,” the unnamed source said.
She was born in Zambia, but holds a British passport and has been moving across Europe for several years.
It is unclear how long she had been working on Lind, which costs about $600,000 to charter during peak season.
The yacht can host 10 guests and has space for 13 crew members, but it is unclear how many people were onboard at the time of Ms Conradie’s death.
This comes after a young stewardess was found dead on board a luxury superyacht, allegedly murdered by her below deck crewmate.
Paige Bell, 20, was found on the floor of the engine room of Far From It, while it was moored in the Bahamas.
Police were called to the vessel at Harbour Island, Eleuthera, at 1pm on July 3, finding her dead and the crewmate, who has since been identified as engineer 39-year-old Brigido Munoz, bleeding heavily.
The island is known as the “Billionaires Backyard”, with more than 20 billionaires reportedly having mansions there, including Bill Gates, and other A-Listers regularly holidaying there.
Far From It charges wealthy clients up to $250,000 a week to charter. It can host up to 10 guests and has nine permanent crew.
News of Ms Bell’s death has rocked the tight knit yachting industry, with one captain she had previously worked with describing her as a “radiant spirit”.
She was raised in South Africa and would have turned 21 on July 14.
