SUDDEN ILLNESS AFTER HEADACHE COMPLAINT
According to information available, Soren returned to his homestay late at night on February 23. Around 12.30 am, when his friends tried to wake him, he complained of a severe headache. An online order for medicine was placed, and he took the dose before going back to sleep.
The following afternoon, at around 2 pm, his friends heard a thud from inside the room. When they rushed in, they found him lying on the floor beside the bed. He was immediately taken in a private vehicle to Civil Hospital Manali.
Sources said foam had begun to come out of his mouth before he reached the hospital. Doctors attempted CPR for an extended period but declared him dead during treatment.
POLICE BEGIN PROBE
Police said information was received from the Civil Hospital in Manali that a youth had been brought dead. Doctors attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR to revive him, but the efforts did not succeed.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Manali K D Sharma told PTI that prima facie no external injury marks were found on the body.
“The family members said that they do not suspect any foul play and refused a post-mortem,” Sharma said. The body was subsequently handed over to his grandfather.
He added that while the exact cause of death is yet to be established, “the possibility of high altitude sickness hypoxemia could not be ruled out.”
Superintendent of Police Kullu, Madan Lal Kaushal, was quoted by ANI as saying, “Yesterday, we got information at Manali police station from the hospital about the death of a man here. It was found that one Veer from the group of men who had come here to visit from a Panipat university had suddenly fallen ill and he was admitted in hospital, where he passed away. The deceased’s relatives have reached Manali.”
Police took the body into custody and initiated legal formalities. Officers said the exact cause of death would be determined after further medical examination.
BODY TAKEN TO DELHI
On Wednesday morning, Soren’s relatives arrived in Manali by air. The body was later transported to Bhuntar airport and flown to Delhi.
Kullu police said the investigation is continuing and that all angles are being examined.
