In Sydney’s north-west, heavily armed police have taken out arrests and charges against two people over the reported kidnapping and murder of old man Chris Baghsarian, who is alleged to have been abducted from his home in a case of mistaken identity.
Gerard Andrews, 29, and Daniel Stevens, 24, were detained on Wednesday morning at their parents ‘ homes in Kenthurst and Castle Hill and were later detained by Strike Force Chobat.
On Tuesday night, police found Baghsarian’s body close to a golf training in Pitt Town on Sydney’s north-western border.
The males were taken to the Riverstone police station and are now facing murder and a fee of kidnapping Baghsarian, who is accused of abducting or holding a person in company with the intention to pay a ransom. On Thursday, both were denied officers bail and were not allowed to appear in Blacktown Local Court.
In a mutiny event, Baghsarian was taken prisoner on February 13 at around 5 a.m. when three men allegedly snatched him from his North Ryde residence. A father and man from Jerusalem who lived alone, Bahsarian has repeatedly claimed that he and his family have no connections to organized crime.
