After fresh host and former participant David Genat made his controversial opening album on Monday night, Survivor Australia supporters have threatened to completely turn off the most recent season.
It was revealed in June that Jonathan LaPaglia, a long-time host and fan favorite, had been scandalously dumped after about ten years in charge, albeit before his eleventh season had even begun to air.
Model and Survivor all-star Genat, dubbed the Golden God, was chosen as his replacement after many rumor.
Fans were quick to criticize Asian Survivor: Redemption after its first episode on Monday, and some even threatened to boycott the show completely due to the controversial casting choice.
They also took issue with Genat’s performance as number, using social media to demand the resumption of LaPaglia, or JLP, as he had come to be affectionately known.
Can David be exonerated and JLP brought up, one asks.
I apologize, but as much as I enjoy victim, I don’t watch it without JLP, one person said.
The Stifler’s selection as the fresh number must be voted off creation. What a upgrade, another person said.
Some viewers believed that Network 10’s alleged struck ouster of JLP was justification for snuffing this season’s flame.
I am skipping SurvivorAU this year after many dedicated centuries of watching. I was irritated by Jonathon LaPaglia finding out he was fired as network while his own season was also airing. Even more so, one fan wrote,” It’s amazing how he was replaced by an idiot who talks about himself in third person.”
LaPaglia admitted to being disappointed by the way his sacking occurred to The Watchlist in August 2025, which came out before Survivor: Australia V The World had begun to air late last month.

Genat, who was born in WA, admitted that “people don’t enjoy change” and that there had been a “weird vibe” around his new job earlier this month.
He just acknowledged, however, that he had auditioned to remove JLP more than five years ago.
In 2020, there was an interview. I auditioned once more, possibly in 2023. And then I camera tested again after Australia vs. the World in December 2024, and I kind of knew I had it, ” Genat told TV Tonight.

I have a friendly relationship with Jonathan. He treated me very well as a contender, Genat said of the host development controversy from last year.
I wanted to be able to communicate with him to let him know how much I value his reputation and the work he did for the present. His response was that it was what it was, and I understand why you ( would ) do that. But I had a great time talking to Jonathan. ”
