A brief moment at an awards ceremony has snowballed into a full-blown social media debate. A now-viral video shows fitness influencer Lakshay Jaggi receiving his trophy from Bollywood actor Rakul Preet Singh and walking off the stage without any visible interaction – no handshake, no smile, no acknowledgement. The clip quickly triggered chatter online, with many viewers claiming Rakul Preet had been deliberately ignored.

As speculation gathered pace, Jaggi released a video statement to address the controversy and explain what, according to him, actually happened on stage.
What did influencer Lakshay Jaggi say?
In his clarification, Jaggi said the moment was misunderstood and rooted in a sequence of events that played out just before he was called up. He explained that another awardee, an elderly woman, had received her trophy moments earlier and that Rakul Preet did not shake hands with her. “When she extended her hand, Rakul didn’t shake hands with her,” Jaggi claimed in the video.
He added that this influenced how he reacted seconds later. “So when I went up, I didn’t intend to insult anyone. I took the award and moved ahead because I felt there was no custom of shaking hands at that point. How would I know the other person would feel insulted?” he said, maintaining that there was no disrespect intended.

Jaggi, however, reiterated that the exchange was taken out of context and that his actions were misinterpreted.
