The MVP competition in the NBL has ended in a with the club growing hopeful that the league will announce joint finalists for the first time in 34 years.
In a two-horse competition for the exclusive MVP award, Adelaide legend Bryce Cotton and Sydney watch Kendric Davis will face off on Monday evening.
Mike Wells, the 36ers ‘ coach, is convinced that Cotton deserves his fifth Andrew Gaze Trophy.

But most importantly, Cotton has consistently played against the bottom four groups while producing his best basketball and enjoying higher percentages this year against the top six.
And in head-to-head conflicts between Adelaide and Sydney, Davis has had the most control.
Sydney led that record 3-1 this year, with Cotton just registering 163 points while Davis averaged 23.8 at those games.
Due to the close nature of the MVP debate, 36ers protect DJ Vasiljevic has suggested that Cotton and Davis may be declared joint winners.
Since Scott Fisher and the famous Gaze shared the award in 1992, nothing has changed.
They will be a deserved win whoever finds the stage on Monday evening.
Goorjian and Josh King will compete for the manager of the year award in other awards that will be given out, while Flynn Cameron of Adelaide, Makuach Maluach of Sydney, and Sam Mennenga of the Breakers will all be in the running for the most superior player.
The Wildcats ‘ Kristian Doolittle, the Phoenix’s John Brown III, and Tasmania’s Will Magnay are in a three-way fight for the defensive player of the year.
