Two men have been stabbed and another seriously assaulted by a group of masked intruders in NSW’s Illawarra region.

The home invasion happened at a Shellharbour home in the early hours of Sunday.

Police say four males wearing balaclavas broke into the house, and one of them had a knife.

Two male occupants were taken to hospital with stab wounds, and a third suffered significant facial injuries.

The group fled the scene and police want anyone with information to come forward.

The group broke into the house on Mummunga Close in the suburb of Flinders about 3.40am on Sunday, a police spokesperson said.

Police were told four males wearing balaclavas broke into the house’s converted garage and assaulted a 20-year-old man.

“Three other occupants – two men aged 19 and 43 and a 37-year-old woman – attempted to assist, however the residents were further assaulted by the group, before they ran away from the scene,” the police spokesperson said.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 43-year-old man for stab wounds to the head and chest, the 20-year-old man for a stab wound to the leg and stomach, and the 19-year-old man for significant facial injuries.

“They were all taken to hospital in a serious condition.”

Police have set up a crime scene and want anyone with information to contact the Lake Illawarra Police District or Crime Stoppers.
