A GLANCE AT THE TOP TEAMS VYING FOR HONOURS IN THE 2026 SUPERCARS SEASON:

WALKINSHAW TWG RACING (TOYOTA SUPRA)

* Drivers: Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood

Chaz Mostert is finally a Supercars champion but the fan-favourite veteran must defend his title in a new car. With question marks over how the Toyota Supra will hold up, Mostert is sticking by the ‘underdog’ tag in his title defence. New Zealand young gun Wood, who was involved in a controversial grand final incident with Broc Feeney, enters 2026 after finally breaking through for his maiden win on home soil last year

TRIPLE EIGHT RACE ENGINEERING (FORD MUSTANG)

* Drivers: Will Brown and Broc Feeney

Broc Feeney was the best driver last year with 14 race wins and a record 19 pole positions, but he wasn’t the best driver when it mattered. The pain of last year’s Adelaide grand final lingers for Feeney, whose rivalry with Ryan Wood is set to take centre stage this year. Will Brown finished second in what was his title defence, after just two race wins. Brown’s qualifying performance let him down, but he made up for it with his remarkable ability to carve through the grid

GROVE RACING (CHEVROLET CAMARO)

* Drivers: Matt Payne and Kai Allen

Just when a grand final berth for reigning Bathurst 1000 champion Matt Payne looked inevitable, it was rookie teammate Kai Allen who reached Adelaide in contention. Payne finished fifth last season with five race wins and one pole, while Allen made the final four yet to snare his maiden career victory. The pair are young – 23 and 20 respectively – and are increasingly proving hard to beat, helping Grove finish behind Triple Eight in the teams’ championship

TEAM 18 (CHEVROLET CAMARO)

* Drivers: Anton De Pasquale and David Reynolds

Anton De Pasquale is out to upset the Supercars order after Team 18 took over from Triple Eight as Chevrolet’s factory team. Pasquale only netted three podiums last year, but made finals and finished eighth overall. At 40, David Reynolds is the oldest driver on the grid and hasn’t won a race since 2023. But the 2017 Bathurst 1000 winner is more than capable of creating chaos

TICKFORD RACING (FORD MUSTANG)

* Drivers: Cam Waters and Thomas Randle

Cam Waters should’ve reached the grand final, but finished sixth overall. It was a bitter end for the Tickford star, who sensationally claimed all three races in Sydney to kick off the season. A two-time championship runner-up, three-time Bathurst 1000 podium finisher, the 31-year-old hopes to finally live up to his billing in 2026. Thomas Randle was largely incognito in a sub-par season and is yet to nab his first Supercars win
