Canada defends group pursuit silver

O Canada!
With a come-from-behind win over the Netherlands, Canada completes its mission by competing against the Netherlands in the children’s speed skating team achievement.
Canada’s Ivanie Blondin, Valérie Maltais and Isabelle Weidemann took the lead ahead of the bell shoulder and pulled apart to get in a time of 2: 55.81.
The Dutch team — Joy Beune, Marijke Groenewoud and Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong — stopped the clock in 2:56.77 to pick up the silver.
Japan defeated the US in the B last to conclude with the bronze medal.
Italy pulls off large speed skating upset

Italy wins a battle!
The European pair of Davide Ghiotto, Andrea Giovanni and Michele Malfatti has won silver in the men’s team pursuit on the speed skating system.
In front of a raucous home crowd, Italy defeated the United States, who were the hot favourites for the gold.
The National squad of Ethan Cepuran, Casey Dawson and Emery Lehman— who hold the world record — had led for much of the competition, but Italy stayed in touch until launching its attack later.
They finally recorded a consoling win, going along with them 3: 39.20 to 3: 43.71.
Earlier, China held on to nick the Netherlands to claim the bronze medal.
France wins biathlon metal as Jurgen Klopp makes a surprise look

We have had a great end at the Anterselva Biathlon Arena, with the people’s 4 by 7.5km biathlon switch concluding.
Norway had a strong lead, but on the last leg Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen struggled on the sensitive capturing section, losing 10 seconds and letting France take the lead.
Christiansen tried to close the gap, but Eric Perrot crossed the line first to win his second gold of the Games ( plus mixed team relay ) in one hour 19 minutes, 55.2 seconds.
Sweden took the iron medal, while Norway came in second place in 1: 20. 05.
There was a bit of spot-the-celebrity at the biathlon, with previous England football manager Jurgen Klopp on finger to ring the bell to sign the final lap.
Unfortunately, Klopp was unable to see a European award because the team finished third.
Canada and the Netherlands will compete in the women’s team achievement last.

In the children’s team pursuit of speed skating, the last two have also been decided.
Four years ago Canada took metal, Japan gold and Netherlands copper.
Canada won the final game this time around with a simple win over the United States, winning by more than four hours. They stopped the time in 2 days 55.94 hours.
Japan led Netherlands in the following final before dying before the final break.
Japan finished in 2: 55.95, just behind the Dutch in 2: 55.84.
Japan will take on the United States for iron, while Canada will take on the Netherlands for silver.
Italy and the United States enter the men’s team pursuit ultimate in speed skating.

We have identified the winners in the men’s team pursuit and there is a large system of rate riding on the day 11 mission in Milano.
Italy gave the house crowd something to cheer on, winning the second quarterfinal against Netherlands. The Italians ran the time in 3:38.88 moments, compared to 3:40:67 for the Dutch.
The second semifinal was a much simpler affair, with the American team of Casey Dawson, Emery Lehman and Ethan Cepuran taking the lead after four laps and cruising away from China.
The US finished in 3:44 :29 ahead of the overmatched Chinese team, who came in 3:52:22.
The Americans were able to save strength, and will be specials when they come up against Italy later on.
Germany, Switzerland through to people’s ice hockey semifinals

The second two play-off activities are over in people’s ice hockey, with Switzerland beating Italy 3-0 and Germany downing France 5-1.
The Swiss and the Germans advance to the playoffs, where they will experience Finland and Slovakia, both.
Oftebro from Norway wins his government’s 13th gold prize.

Jens Luraas Oftebro of Norway, who had already won his second silver medal at the Games in Nordic Combined, turned out to be out of his depth by a 22-second ratio.
Oftebro had taken out the Individual Gundersen Normal Hill / 10km earlier at these Winter Olympics.
On time 11, he led Japan’s Ryota Yamamoto by 22 hours as they entered the Personal Gundersen Big Hill / 10km race.
But the 25-year-old was not to be denied, stopping the time in 24 moments, 45 seconds specifically in the last 10km cross country foot.
He won the bronze medal match against Austria’s Johannes Lamparter by 5.9 hours, with Finland’s Ilkka Herola a further 8.9 minute behind.
Yamamoto finished 15th.
With the victory of Oftebro, Norway now holds 13 silver awards.
Speed is essential for safe aerials.
The purpose that the snow falling is so important is that athletes need an actual frequency to correctly execute the dangerous abilities, and when they are down by any more than 2kmph it can be quite fatal. However, it’s not possible to come on too slowly or quickly like in many other sports. Whilst the frost is very good for the getting, it is crucial that the in-run is continuous as much as possible in between jumps so that the proper adjustments can be made by the coaches, who also have to consider the weather conditions and manner. David Morris ( Aerials Olympian Silver medalist )
– David Morris
David,
Thank you so much for reading the site and for providing an explanation of the event’s concepts.
There is a reason why aerials are one of the most harmful activities on the Winter Olympic program.
I think we all would understand why the frustration of having competition postponed is more than balanced by the priority of ensuring the safety of those competitors launching 15m in the air and completing double and triple twisting somersaults in quick time before landing.
Japan leading Northern Combined occurrence at Predazzo forward of cross-country finale

Predazzo seems to have escaped the frost that has been hammering Livigno on day 11, which is great news for the competition in Nordic Combined.
Now is the Individual Gundersen Big Hill/10km Cross Country event, and we have finished the results from the first ski jumping area.
Japan’s Ryota Yamamoto topped the listings with a rating of 150.0 items accurately. While Thomas Rettenegger and Kristjan Elves from Austria managed a distance of 137 meters, they finished fourth and sixth, both, despite not having the longest jump.
The best six values after the snow climbing:
- Ryota Yamamoto ( JAP ): 150.
- Johannes Lamparter ( AUT) 148.0 ( 8 seconds back )
- Andreas Skoglund ( NOR ) 146. 16 seconds
- Thomas Rettenegger ( AUT) 145.4 ( 18 seconds )
- Jens Luraas Ofgtebro ( NOR ) 144.6 ( 22 ) seconds
- Kristjan Elves ( EST ) 144.0 ( 24 seconds )
As you can see, after labels two to six, etc., there is a time in parentheses.
The items change after the snow bouncing is converted into a time change in the cross-country area, which will happen at the Tesoro Cross-Country Skiing Stadium.
We’ll let you know how things turn out as the episode approaches.
A rare instance of an Olympian occasion being canceled.
What happens if the wind doesn’t distinct much in time to hold all the events before the Games end? Has this ever taken place before?
– Ladybird
Ladybird,
Almost a century before, there was a notorious event at the 1928 St Moritz Games in Switzerland, according to our Olympian writer, Simon Smale.
The 10, 000m speed skating cancelled halfway through due to a rapid thaw that melted the snow on, what was then, an outdoor rink.
No trophies were distributed.
But that is not a normal event.
Although this is not ideal for organizers or companies, I don’t believe we’re at this point running out of time to complete tasks.
Aerials were delayed for the day.

We’ve heard that the entire aerials contest has been postponed for the day.
The weather was improving slightly, but perhaps organisers were concerned whether they would be able to clear things up in time for the 1: 45pm local time ( 11: 45pm AEDT ) start.
This week’s conditions has been a bit sour for Livigno.
The only good media out of all this is that no one is affected more than anyone else.
No one has ever had to climb in these circumstances before the aerials had begun.
Frustration no doubt for Danielle Scott, Abbey Willcox, Airleigh Frigo and Sidney Stephens, and for Reilly Flanagan in the men’s event.
Words that are standard:
Due to weather conditions, the Women’s and Men’s Aerials Qualification previously planned for February 17 has been postponed.
FIS and MiCo ( Organizers of the Mexican Cortina ) will provide more details regarding the new time and date.
Why is there a problem with a little winter?
It’s hard to get your head around autumn sporting being cancelled because it’s snowing! Is it storm or simply snow?
– Peter
Phillip,
It’s a combination of stuff, as I understand it.
First of, especially with the aerials, the amount of winter that is falling on the in-run to the dives makes it difficult for rivals to gain the speed they need to allow them to perfect the tricks they are attempting.
Another problem is that Livigno’s level of visibility is not great and that general safety is top of mind.
Men’s ice hockey play-offs are in progress

We begin the ice hockey knockout stages as the Winter Olympics progress.
In the men’s competition we are at the play-off stage, one step short of the quarterfinals.
The top four seeds are set to be: Finland ( 4 ), Slovakia ( 3 ), the United States ( 2 ), and Canada ( 1 ).
The first two play-offs are on now, with Germany taking on France and Switzerland facing Italy. The winner of the first game will face Finland, and the second game’s winner will face Slovakia in the final eight.
Both games have had fast starts, with Switzerland leading Italy 2-0 in the first period, and Germany leading France by the same score.
The men’s aerials qualification has been delayed
The men’s aerials qualification, which was scheduled to begin at 11:30 PM AEDT, has been postponed due to bad weather.
There is no word on a new time.
So Reilly Flanagan from Australia and the other 24 competitors will have to wait until their opportunity to launch their Olympic campaigns.
Women’s aerials may be pushed back to 11:45 p.m. AEDT.
There is nothing on the Olympic website yet, but we are seeing updates in Livigno suggesting a new schedule for the women’s aerials.
The new schedule indicates that competitors will begin their one-jump warm-up at 11 p.m. AEDT, with the first run beginning at 11:45 p.m. and the second run beginning at 00:30 p.m. AEDT.
Officially postponed for the women’s Slopestyle final

Okay, we have received official confirmation that the women’s slopestyle final has been postponed.
According to FIS contest director, Roby Moresi:
The Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle has been postponed due to bad weather conditions. A decision on a new date and time will follow later today.
That’s bad news for the competitors, who were getting ready to practice at their best for a start time of 11 p.m. AEDT. But conditions are just not great right now.
Swiss still unbeaten, two close calls in men’s curling

We are still going in two of the three games in the men’s curling round robin.
Sweden is now six wins out of six matches, leading Switzerland, who defeated Switzerland 9-4.
The other two games are close, however.
The momentum is waning late in the United States vs. China matchup, and we are in the final stretch. China grabbed three shots for a 5-2 lead after end eight, then the Americans matched them to level at 5-5 after nine ends. They are in the decisive 10th inning, and China has won the match 8-5 with a triple.
The other game is in the final end, with Germany leading Czechia 7-6. Czechia has the advantage of final rock in the tenth end once more, just like the Chinese, and they did it with a triple!
Czechia wins 9-7.
Women’s aerials delayed until midnight AEDT

As we feared, the weather has not cleared yet, and the women’s aerials qualification has been delayed again.
midnight AEDT is the new start time.
The women’s slopestyle final might not be as good as it should be.
This weather is not great obviously for the women’s aerials, or for the men’s aerials qualification later with Australia’s Reilly Flanagan.
The women’s slopestyle final involving Australia’s Ally Hickman is another big event at Livigno, though.
The final is due to start at 11pm AEDT tonight— however the ABC has been told that the final has been postponed.
Official word is still in our pipeline, and we’ll let you know as soon as we can.
