Robert Irwin has taken to the stage in his khakis as a surprise performer at Laneway Festival on Sunday.

The 22-year-old wildlife warrior has been making more of a name for himself since winning Dancing With the Stars in America last year.

And on Sunday at Arena Joondalup, he showed off some of those winning moves on stage during American singer Role Model’s set.

The singer, real name Tucker Pillsbury, is renowned for bringing out a famous guest to dance during his song Sally, When The Wine Runs Out.

Fans had been anticipating his performance all day after the young star posted a photo to Instagram showing he was on his way to Perth with one of Role Model’s songs playing in the background.

The thousands strong crowd went wild after he did indeed appear on stage with a huge grin and dance with the singer.

Some of his moves included doing the worm and showing off his guns.

Previous special guests on this Laneway circuit have included Benee (Auckland), Malcolm Todd (Gold Coast), The Wiggles (Sydney), Wet Leg (Melbourne) and Lucy Dacus (Adelaide).

Many of acts are not chosen till the last minute leaving fans to speculate about who might arrive on stage.

The trend has become a viral sensation since the song officially dropped on February 14, 2025, just before the North American leg of his tour.

Other surprise guests who joined him for the song while on tour have included Olivia Rodrigo, Hillary Duff, Renee Rapp and Natalie Portman.

The song was inspired after a breakup and was created to be a lighter, more energetic track compared to the rest of his album.

CHAPPELL ROAN SPARKLES

Headlining Laneway while looking flawless, a Chappell Roan fairytale came alive on stage as the pop star sang some of her greatest hits.

With flashing green lights and smoke emerging from the giant castle set on stage, it was giving Wicked vibes before a storybook appeared on the huge LED screen as fans waited to step into her fairytale.

The 27-year-old, born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, emerged from the castle — complete with a tower and a bridge — wearing a pirate-like Elizabethan outfit with a modern twist.

With her voluminous curly red hair flowing behind her, she launched into her song Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl, then continued with Femininomenon and After Midnight.

Her makeup looked impeccable, and she sparkled under the stage lights next to her all women band members.

From dancing on the stage to ascending the stairs onto the bridge, Roan brought the party vibes — her birthday is in four days and what a way to celebrate with her Perth fans.

Other acts on the lineup included The Dare, PinkPantherass, Lucy Dacus, Wet Leg and Wolf Alice.
