Love was clearly in the air this Valentine’s weekend, and it showed at the box office. O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, witnessed a sharp jump in collections on its second day, registering a healthy surge after a steady opening.
The film, which released in theatres on Friday, opened with Rs 8.50 crore nett in India. On Saturday, it saw an impressive 45 per cent growth, collecting approximately Rs 12.25 crore. With this, O Romeo has amassed a total of Rs 20.75 crore nett at the domestic box office in just two days.

Trade analysts attribute the spike largely to Valentine’s weekend, which encouraged couples and young audiences to step into cinemas. The rise also points to growing curiosity and early word of mouth around the film.
However, despite the upward trend, O Romeo is yet to match the pace of Shahid Kapoor’s 2019 blockbuster Kabir Singh, which had earned Rs 22.71 crore on its second day alone. That comparison places O Romeo on a more modest footing, even as its Day 2 growth remains encouraging.
On Saturday, the film played across 4,747 shows nationwide, registering an average occupancy of 19.3 per cent. While these numbers indicate steady footfalls rather than packed houses, the Valentine’s weekend boost appears to have worked in the film’s favour.
Produced under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner, the film boasts a strong ensemble cast that includes Vikrant Massey, Tamannaah Bhatia, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal and Nana Patekar, alongside the lead pair. The diverse casting has been a talking point and may have helped draw a wider audience.
O Romeo tells an emotionally charged story of love, loss and consequence. According to the makers, the film explores “the irreversible consequences of love denied.” The narrative draws inspiration from a chapter in Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, lending the film a gritty, real-life edge beneath its romantic core.
