A lifelong Manly Sea Eagles fan, Australian professional wrestling star Kyle Fletcher has dared somebody to throw a Broncos jersey in his direction at Sunday night’s AEW House Rules show in Brisbane.

“I hate the Broncos,” said Northern Beaches product Fletcher, one of American promotion All Elite Wrestling’s premier performers.

“If I get my hands on a Broncos jersey, I will take it to the ring, throw it in the bin, and set it on fire.”

Fletcher, who was scheduled to defend AEW’s TNT title against Mark Briscoe in Saturday night’s AEW Grand Slam Australia event in Sydney, isn’t sure of the reception he will receive at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre due to not only him being a New South Welshman, but also because of his “heel” status.

“The coolest part about it is I have literally no idea what to expect,” he said.

“I welcome everyone to react however they would like to react, and I’m just going to go out there and do what I do best.

“With AEW, all our shows, there’s a certain electricity, and then when you bring that passion into it that Aussie fans have for any sport, whether it’s pro wrestling, rugby league, AFL … it’s going to be rowdy, it’s going to be electric and it’s going to be awesome.”

Fletcher’s former tag-team partner, Queenslander Mark Davis, is also expected to be part of the Brisbane show.

AEW world champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman is also likely to make an appearance, with Fletcher – who wasn’t sure who he would be fighting against in Brisbane – issuing a warning to the man better known as MJF.

“Right now I’m planning on becoming the greatest TNT champion of all time, but that world championship, I’m salivating at the thought of holding it,” Fletcher said.

“I’m way better than MJF and he knows it. Without a doubt, I’m going be the world champion sooner or later.”
