As a student, Dax Shepard was on the verge of passing away.
The 51-year-old professional was” hours away” from the end of his life when he was involved in a car accident, but he remembered finding the concept” astonishingly comforting” rather than terrified.
Dax shared what had happened to him in the 12th level while discussing near-death views on his Armchair Expert radio with co-host Monica Padman and host Kaley Cuoco.
He continued,” I don’t know what the definition is. However, I did experience the most unique feeling in my life, which was the” Oh, I’m about to die.” I’m literally moments away from passing away.
I was in the backseat of a vehicle. In a Ford Probe, like I had folded the seating down in a car, and my companion was driving. We were returning from Toledo to Detroit.
” I had to operate very early in the morning because it was late at night.” I then say,” Hey, I’m going to sleep in the back.” Do you have any driving experience? ‘ ] He said ] ‘ Yeah, I’m totally fine.’ He had the boat control turned on at 85, and I was listening as he drove down the road, which was very repetitive.
Just at that moment, I thought,” Oh, that rhythm’s nice. I’m going to doze off.
” And then I simply audibly heard sand hitting the side of the car.” And when I looked him in the face, he was entirely slumped over.
Dax described how the vehicle had been “going 85″ before it” started to get backward” and “gone off the road.”
He continued,” It’s just pine trees lining that Michigan interstate. And as I began to grab the wheel, I realized it was too far away. as if we had fully shifted.
We only launched into the air and started rolling down the highway after I sat down and then I sat up.
We’re going to strike a tree, I tell myself, and that’s it.
And I certainly experienced this moment where I thought,” Oh, amazing, I’m gonna die in a minute.” And it was surprisingly comforting to hear. Like, that I can recall.
The comedian who won Employee of the Month went from feeling completely terrified that the car was going to be “out of control” to feeling “very calm,” which he believes was the result of his brain’s release, which he believes caused him to feel “kind of strangely at peace with it.”
He continued,” Then we just rolled like ten days and ended up back over.” We avoided a branch.
” The vehicle was unremarkable. We climbed out of the panels, and both of us were fine.
Dax is eager to share his knowledge with others because it made him question whether or not he was still intact in the aftermath.
He stated,” I want to talk to other people because the trippiest piece for me was going post that occasion for about three weeks.
” Oh, I’m dead,” I presently went, and I accepted it. For the next three weeks, I would simply be in areas that made me feel quite strange, such as,” Am I useless?” I am aware that I died. That was the most bizarre aspect of the entire situation.
Due to the harrowing incident, Dax, who has two daughters and his wife Kristen Bell, finds it impossible to sleep in a vehicle.
He asserted,” It was very wonderful. Although this may surprise you, I haven’t been able to sleep in a vehicle since. But I never allow the other driver to take a turn while driving.
There’s no way I was rest while someone else is driving. That’s a wrap-up of that.
