An Australian has spent a staggering amount for his family to attend their first Super Bowl.
In an interview with an NBC reporter that has gone viral on social, media, a Melbourne father revealed that he had forked out an eye-watering $150,000 to get his family of five to Levi Stadium in California for the game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.
Wearing a Patriots t-shirt, the fan told the TV reporter: “Tickets cost a fortune, right.
“So coming from Australia I reckon I spent $150,000. There’s five of us so tickets were 80 grand, $80,000 Australian.”
The clearly stunned reporter then quipped whether the family was seated on the field for that price.
“Where are you guys sitting? Are you on the field for a 150 grand?”
The father said they were on level one.
“Yeah, yeah, it’s on level one so we’re … right …. it’s expensive,” he added.
The father then reveals to the gobsmacked reporter that he spent $65,000 on flights alone.
“It was about $13,000 (each), that’s business class but it’s priceless,” he said.
“We’re here for the win and it’s going to be a lifetime memory for the kids. It’s going to be great.”
