Super Bowl LX: Best advertisements featuring celebs like George Clooney, Serena Williams, Matthew McConaughey

Not only are all eyes on the most-watched US sporting event of the year, but viewers and fans at home love to see which celebrities are featured in the typically lucrative slate of commercials.

Game broadcaster NBC sold out of ad inventory for the showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots at an average of $8 million per 30-second spot, CNBC reported.

As many as 10 ad slots sold for more than $10 million each.

Here are some of the best adverts featuring acting and singing sensations.

George Clooney for Grubhub

The star actor appeared at a dinner in this commercial to share that Grubhub will no longer charge delivery or service fees on orders of at least $50.

Matthew McConaughey and The Kid Laroi for Uber Eats

For the second year in a row, Matthew McConaughey tries to convince celebrities like Bradley Cooper and Parker Posey that football is a conspiracy to make people hungry so they order food.

In a separate Uber Eats ad, The Kid Laroi is given a new name, “The Man Laroi”, and we see him transform into an older version of himself and falls over while performing onstage.

The ad slogan says: New Name, No; New York Cheesecake, Yes.

Serena Williams for Ro

The former tennis legend has appeared in an ad for a second time where she shares her weight loss story for the health company.

Chris Hemsworth for Alexa+

The Aussie heart throb appeared alongside his wife Elsa Pataky who has just started using the AI to help make daily tasks a bit easier.

In the ad, he thinks Alexa is out to get him but soon learns she is handy for booking in appointments like “a massage and cinnamon scrub”.

“Wait, you can do that?” he queried.

Charli XCX for Poppi

The Brat singer and comedian Rachel Sennott star in this prebiotic soft drink advert that is all about bringing the vibes.

Sofia Vergara for Skechers

The Skechers’ Super Bowl ad stars Modern Family actress Sofía Vergara who throws shoes with laces out the window and into the pool as she proves how easy it is to put on Skechers’ hands-free slip-ins.

Sabrina Carpenter for Pringles

The pop star gets flirty and loved up as the Espresso singer builds her dream man — Pringleleo — out of potato chips in this entertaining and creative ad.

Hailee Steinfeld and Katseye for State Farm

State Farm channelled star power for its Super Bowl commercial, featuring actress and wife of Buffalo Bills player Josh Allen, Hailee Steinfeld, who seeks coverage from the fake Halfway There Insurance, started by comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Danny McBride.

The comedic duo go back in time with mullets and rock out to Livin’ on a Prayer, complete with a surprise appearance by girl group Katseye.

Benson Boone and Ben Stiller for Instacart

The Mystical Magical singer and Zoolander actor are cast as brothers who are also part of a Europop duo in Instacart’s Super Bowl ad.

During a performance, Boone does one of his iconic flips and Stiller attempts to one-up him, jumping from increasingly higher platforms on stage to disastrous, but hilarious, effect.

Pepsi v Coca-Cola for Pepsi

A polar bear — a longtime Coca-Cola mascot — chooses Pepsi over Coke in a blind taste test. The animal is shocked after learning he likes Pepsi better and takes part in therapy from Taika Waititi.

Backstreet Boys for T-Mobile

The Backstreet Boys sang a restructured version of the band’s hit song, I Want It That Way, as they crooned, “Tell me why,” T-Mobile is better than other telcos and has a lot to offer customers.

Brian Baumgartner for Ramp

Baumgartner reprised his role as everyone’s favourite accountant Kevin Malone from The Office in his ad for fintech startup Ramp.

Several trailers were also played to make use of the huge viewership across the globe with Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, Scream 7, Minions and Monsters and Disney’s The Mandalorian and Grogu getting air time.
