US President Donald Trump says he will communicate by telephone with Russian President Vladimir Putin and finally Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
He said in a post on Truth Social that the call with Putin will take place at 10am Eastern on Monday ( midnight AEST ).
” THE Content OF THE Name WILL Remain, STOPPING THE ‘ Disaster’ THAT IS KILLING, ON AVERAGE, MORE THAN 5000 RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS A WEEK, AND TRADE”, he said in a blog.
Trump said he would talk with Zelenskiy and several members of the NATO military alliance later.
Trump expressed wish that the talks did amount to a” Creative DAY” and that a ceasefire may be agreed to but this “VERY VIOLENT WAR” can stop.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke with each other on Saturday, the US Department of State said.
During the visit, Rubio welcomed the slave trade agreement reached during recent conversations between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey, the district’s spokesperson said.
The minister also emphasised Trump’s contact for an immediate peace and an end to the crime in Russia’s war in Ukraine, according the office.
