In Delhi’s Dwarka Sector A-1, also known as Nasirpur village, residents who invested their life savings into dream homes are now grappling with disappointment and frustration. Societies such as Kumudi Apartment, Ideal Apartment, and EIL Society lie at the centre of growing discontent, where buyers feel misled and powerless.

Unauthorised Market Encroachment

Anil Verma of Kumudi Apartment explains that the land was originally allotted by the Delhi Development Authority to a Cooperative Group Housing Society. Over time, however, the area has been overtaken by the unauthorised Nasirpur Sabzi Mandi. While the marketing board initially licensed 60–70 commission agents, that number has swelled to over 200, with unlicensed retail shops also operating. The unregulated sprawl has turned the area into a congested commercial zone, causing major inconvenience for residents.

Traffic Chaos And Safety Concerns

The roads are perpetually clogged with lorries, e-rickshaws, and illegal parking. The unchecked movement of heavy vehicles and unlicensed e-rickshaws has made walking extremely hazardous. School buses have ceased operations, forcing parents to transport their children themselves.

Repeated complaints to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Police, and Traffic Police have resulted in no substantial action.

Decline In Quality Of Life

Late-night truck movement disrupts residents’ sleep, while concerns around women’s safety continue to grow.

Rajesh Kannaujiya of Ideal Apartment reports frequent instances of public drinking and molestation, making it unsafe for women to go out in the evening. Residents feel the area is no longer suitable for respectable families, particularly those with children or elderly members.

Health And Environmental Hazards

Gurcharan Kaur, Secretary of EIL Society, highlights the intense air and noise pollution that prevents elderly residents from enjoying their morning walks. With the constant din of traffic and lack of peace, her family is now considering relocating.

A court case over the issue remains unresolved, with dates frequently adjourned and the opposing party often absent.

Residents from other societies report that the market has severely narrowed the roads, leading to regular minor accidents. With no school buses, parents are burdened with additional responsibility. The community continues to call for urgent and effective resolution.
